Mission Statement

At Emotional Support Animal, we understand how animals can significantly affect people's mental health. Our mission is to help anyone with a mental or emotional disability find comfort and support through a service dog or emotional support animal and discover how their bond with their support animal can help them live a healthier, more independent, and happier life.

The Problem

The mental health crisis in the United States has grown to alarming proportions; more than 1 in 5 Americans currently experience mental illness, and around 16% take psychiatric medications, which often carry significant side effects, lack insurance coverage, and typically fail to resolve underlying problems such as isolation or feeling directionless.

The Solution

Emotional support animals and psychiatric service dogs offer scientifically validated benefits for mental health and overall wellness in both adults and children. Incorporating a support animal into a mental health treatment plan can decrease dependence on medications, may cost less than alternative treatments, and provides companionship and purpose. Additionally, ESAs and service dogs are legally permitted to live with you in almost all long-term rental housing situations, including most apartments and college dormitories.
