Comfort Companions PLLC – ESA Documentation Compliance
Comfort Companions PLLC follows all ethical, clinical, and legal guidelines related to Emotional Support Animal (ESA) evaluations and documentation.
Clinical Compliance
All ESA evaluations include a clinical review and a live telehealth consultation.
ESA letters are issued only if clinically appropriate, based on the client's mental health symptoms and functional impact.
Evaluations follow guidelines from the American Counseling Association (ACA) and Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
Legal Compliance
Our ESA documentation adheres to:
Fair Housing Act (FHA)
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines
Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) (for supporting documentation only; airlines may have individual policies)
Michigan Telehealth & Mental Health Regulations
Limitations
ESA letters do not grant public access rights (ESAs are not service animals).
Housing providers or airlines may request additional documentation.
ESA letters must typically be renewed annually.
Client Responsibilities
Clients must provide accurate, honest information.
Misrepresentation may result in denial of documentation.
Clients understand that ESA evaluations do not establish ongoing therapy or emergency services.
This ensures the site is clinically appropriate, legally accurate, and aligned with ethical ESA evaluation standards
